Acupressure
is a massage therapy technique that involves applying pressure to acupressure points (acupoints) that lie on the meridians of the body to address aliments and restore health and balance to the body's channels. These channels are said to begin at your fingertips, connect to your brain, and then connect to an organ associated with a certain meridian. They can become out of balance or blocked, so acupressure can relieve blockage and assist in healing. Acupressure is like acupuncture without needles!
What to expect:
Your therapist will use their thumb, knuckle, or fingers to apply a firm but gentle pressure to acupoints on specific parts of your body. This pressure lasts from thirty seconds up to two minutes, after which it is slowly eased off. The technique is then repeated for maximum relief.
