Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is very light, manual bodywork used to stimulate the flow of lymphatic fluid and help the drainage of lymph nodes. Lymphatic drainage uses a series of specific gentle movements throughout the entire body to act as an external pump to direct lymphatic fluid through the lymph channels and enhance the release of toxins.
While often called "lymphatic drainage massage", lymphatic drainage specifically focuses on the lymph vessels (located in your dermis, right below the skin) while massage focuses on the muscle (located deeper, under the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis).

Anyone can benefit from lymphatic drainage to get your lymphatic system really flowing!

Your lymphatic system maintains the body’s fluid balance, blood circulation, immune mechanisms, and helps eliminate waste from the body. A compromised lymphatic system can lead to tissue swelling, poor skin tone, excess weight, cellulite, headaches, joint pain, fatigue and greater susceptibility to illness. There are also many health conditions that can benefit from lymphatic drainage, such as fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis (talk to your health care provider before booking!). We also offer POST-OP Lymphatic Drainage for anyone who has recently undergone surgery, see FAQ below.

What to expect:
Your therapist will use a series of gliding, compressing, stretching, and cupping motions with light pressure then releasing. These light, rhythmic movements stimulate the lymphatic system without compressing the vessels – allowing lymph fluid to move easily through the tissues and lymph nodes. The goal of the entire process is to "empty" out your lymph nodes. Lymphatic drainage is known to be soothing and relaxing.
